Story:
Balu Mahendra (Naga Chaitanya) is an Engineering student, who has never strayed from topping his class since childhood. He is as disciplined as Hitler, very cunningly intelligent too, and almost despises anyone who is not too good with studies. Mahalaxmi (Tamannah), his cousin, comes into their home, to continue her studies. Because Mahalaxmi can’t catch up with the subjects, Balu helps her, and it is not long before both of them are fighting for top marks in the college. They overcome situations at college, getting attracted to each other, with some effervescent chemistry. When they are on verge of expressing their love to each other, a minor difference opens up their negative side, and both of them go on an ego ride. How both of them overcome their ego and express their love for each other forms the rest of the story.
Performance :
Naga Chaitanya performance is OK in this movie. His performance in the collage scenes is good, but need to improve a lot in emotional scenes. Needs improvement in Dancing skills. His looks are good and costumes are apt.
Tamannah performed well as Maha Lakshmi. But, she too failed to give her best in emotional scenes. She looked gorgeous in traditional Langa Voni or Sarees. She is beautiful and sexy.
The guy who played Ajith role performed well. Tara Alisha who acted as Swapna is in very limited role. Naresh, Vijay Kumar, K R Vijaya justified their roles.
Dharmavarapu Subrahamanyam, Rajesh and MS Narayana acted well in humorous roles.
Technical:
The whole credit of the movie belongs to Sukumar. He creates an aura of attraction between the lead pair, and leaves his audiences afloat in it. Dialogues and screenplay that almost never go wrong, make the movie a joy ride. Devisri Prasad’s contribution to the film is tremendous, with quite a few small but sweet songs used in the background, and a score that is high on energy. It helps Sukumar unleash his magic. Cinematographer seems to have teamed up nicely with the art director as both of them together give pleasing visuals. The editor should be appreciated heavily for having done innumerable montage scenes, each of it painstakingly done, but each never losing the necessary sheen! The title sequence, the song ‘Aho Balu’ etc. might have very simple looking graphics, but they are very creatively done too.
Songs, even though most of them come in the background, are invigorating. Adnani Sami sung number ‘Infatuation’ is a treat! With no foreign location shoots and no unnecessary scenes, the movie is a producer’s delight. The technicians ensured that the overall production seems quite rich. Probably, that is how other Telugu films should be planned too!
Plus Points:
+ Tammanah
+ Cute Kids
+ Songs
+ 1st Half
Minus Points:
- Dragging 2nd Half
- ego hassles of the lead characters
Final Word:
‘100% Love’ will easily be slotted as a youthful entertainer, but it also showcases that today’s generation, inspite of their ‘care free’ attitude, do have few reservations – some call it ego, some call it living upto their partner’s expectations! To each his own.
