RATING:3/5
Story:
Screenplay/Direction/Dialogues:
Dialogues by Puri were of top notch. Few of the one liners are very catchy and impressive. Screenplay is very tight in both first half and second half.
Artists:
Mahesh has been at his best in this movie as well. He has delivered dialogues very well and the variation between serious and comedy dialogues was handled very well. The only drawback for him is his dancing and in this movie he proves that he is super star Krishna’s son in dancing section.
Kajal has very limited role and will only show on the screen for songs.and much skin show, Girl who acted as Kajal’s friend in the first half is very annoying. Prakash Raj, Sayaji Shinde and Brahmaji have very limited roles but have done justice to their roles. Puri Jagan has done a guest appearance as a taxi driver in this movie.
Songs:
Mumbai: This is the solo song for the hero but cannot be categorized as introduction song as this comes 30 mins in to the movie. This has been choreographed and shot well.
Sir Osthara: This song was the instant block buster in the audio, this song comes in the first half of the movie when Kajal falls for Mahesh. This has been shot well but dancing from Mahesh was very minimal.
Pilla Chao: This song is copy of an Italian song ‘Bella Ciao’. This songs comes in the second half when both Kajal and her father (Nasser) deny Mahesh’s love. Not a great song to watch.
Chandamama: This is a romantic song between Mahesh and Kajal. Kajal was gorgeous in the designer sarees. There was lot of blurring of images probably because of censor board, which was very annoying. This song was misplaced in the movie and we will not understand why this song has come.
Bad Boys: This is the Item song in the second half. Again there was lot of blurred images which was annoying and song was just average.
Mar Sale: This is last song and director has tried to show how hero expands his network and gang.
Things which work for the movie:
Mahesh
Dialogues
Making Mafia Legal
Things which work against the movie:
No Comedy
No Ali and Brahmanandam
Songs (except ‘Sir Osthara’)
Romance between hero and Heroine(no chemistry)
Analysis:
Movie starts with a disclaimer “ee katha Mumbai lo jariginappadiki … ee katha lo ni patralu Telugu lo matladataayii mana sukham kosam”. This is a very sensible disclaimer and should be used for many of our movies.
First half of the movie is good with only two songs and builds the platform for hero to become a gangster. Second half is fast and shows how hero establishes his mafia empire and how he makes mafia legal in the system, however songs in the second half were annoying and misplaced. More comedy to the movie would have helped. The only comedian we will see in this movie is Sayaji Shinde. 85% of the screen time has been given to Mahesh and he has done justice to it.
Overall this is an above average flick and only the stardom of Mahesh should put this movie in the hit zone.
Rating: 3/5
Movie starts with a police commissioner (Nasser) press conference where he declares that whole mafia in Mumbai has been wiped off and there are “No more bhai’s in Mumbai” . This is when a youngster lands in Mumbai with an ambition of taking over Mumbai and creating his own gang. In this process he will make alliance with a local leader (Sayaji Shinde) and gets the political back up. He will also develop a new enemy Prakash Raj who has killed Mahesh parents in the past and the rest of the story is how Mahesh kills Prakash and becomes a mafia don.
